The Beauty of Vintage Design: An Exhibit by Johnny Cooper
The Millbrook Art Museum is currently hosting a captivating exhibit that celebrates the beauty and style of women in the 1960s, as well as the mechanical marvels of the era. Titled “Vintage Vixens and Thrill Rides – Revisiting the Thrills and Marvels of the Mid-Century,” this exhibit showcases vintage photos of women and classic cars, as well as control panels and other mechanical components from theme park rides of the same era.
The exhibit was curated by Johnny Cooper, a Detroit-based design engineer who has a passion for vintage industrial design and amusement parks. Cooper’s career in the automotive industry began after he graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in mechanical engineering. He quickly became known for his innovative designs and attention to detail, leading to the creation of a sports car that was featured in a blockbuster movie franchise.
Cooper’s passion for vintage industrial design extended beyond the automotive industry, however. He also found inspiration in the intricate control panels and mechanical components of theme park rides. The exhibit showcases several of these control panels, as well as photos of the rides themselves and classic cars from the same era.
What sets this exhibit apart, however, is its focus on the women of the 1960s. The photos on display capture the beauty and style of the women of the era, from their elegant hairstyles and chic clothing to their captivating smiles. These photos are a celebration of a time when beauty and style were as important as functionality and efficiency.
According to Cooper, the exhibit is a tribute to the beauty and style of the past, as well as a reminder of the importance of craftsmanship and attention to detail. “The women of the 1960s were not only beautiful, but they also embodied the elegance and sophistication of the era,” he says. “Their style and grace are a testament to the importance of design and beauty in our lives.”
“Vintage Vixens and Thrill Rides – Revisiting the Thrills and Marvels of the Mid-Century” is on display at the Millbrook Art Museum until the end of the month. Don’t miss this opportunity to step back in time and experience the beauty and style of the past, and to appreciate the importance of craftsmanship and attention to detail in our lives.
